Bianca Dottin is a blogger and millennial mama of two. She had never imagined that she would be a NICU mom. After 34 weeks of a rough pregnancy, Tristan was born with multiple congenital anomalies and admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for respiratory distress. 6 long months went by with daily visits to the NICU to be with Tristan. Bianca had to learn how to cope with her preemie son’s conditions and the stress of being a NICU mom all while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for her 6-year-old daughter Tatiana. Her greatest coping mechanism was through journaling and joining a community of moms for trach babies. Throughout their journey, Bianca decided that she wanted to create an online community where all NICU moms could come for a place to seek comfort, knowledge, and understanding from fellow and graduate NICU moms.
On April 19, 2017 Tristan Josiah Ferrell gained his angel wings.
For almost 3 years, Ja’Corey and I went back and forth about having a second child. We never wanted Tatiana to be alone in case anything were to ever happen to us. Then, we finally made the decision to try and in 2016 on April Fools Day, after almost 12 months of praying and trying we found out that we were having baby #2. After that, I prayed that God would bless us with the baby boy that I had always dreamed of.
Tristan Josiah Ferrell blessed us with his presence on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 6:07pm in the Winnie Palmer Hospital emergency department. I remember it like it was yesterday. That was what I thought at the time to be the most painful day of my life. With no warning and no epidural Tristan made an entrance into this world that I will never forget. I’ll never forget the first and only time that I heard him cry.
Although Tristan was born with many congenital anomalies, he was a fighter. He was the strongest, most resilient baby that possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges.
Tristan Josiah Ferrell was granted his angel wings on April 19, 2017 just 6 short months after his birth. His final hours were spent with his mother. Tristan was truly a blessing to this earth and touched everyone he came into contact with.
MOMMY'S NICU JOURNAL
In November 2017, Bianca officially released My Mommy’s NICU Journal, a 60-day guided journal for reflection, self car, and precious memories.
“I created My Mommy’s NICU Journal for moms like myself. There’s no way that I was able to remember every single detail about my baby’s NICU stay. I needed a way to keep track of our milestones and memories. A journal was the way to do it. It’s more than just a journal. It’s a keepsake.”
